Es Doctorado en Pittsburgh, y actualmente vive en los Estados Unidos, donde es profesor em\u00e9rito de la Universidad de Cincinnati, con el t\u00edtulo de Charles Taft Professor. Ha publicado numerosos libros de poes\u00eda, narrativa y ensayo.
