Η Ελβίρα ντε Ιδάλγο είναι γνωστή ως δασκάλα και πυγμαλίων της Μαρία Κάλλας, αλλά ελάχιστα αναγνωρισμένη για τις εξαιρετικές της ικανότητες στο τραγούδι (σοπράνο κολορατούρα) και την επιτυχημένη σκηνική της παρουσία στην όπερα. Εκείνη, που γύρισε όλο τον κόσμο και ένιωθε πάντα περήφανη να ερμηνεύει στις παραστάσεις της το τραγούδι «De España vengo» («Έρχομαι από την Ισπανία…»), έχει, αντιθέτως, ξεχαστεί από τη χώρα της. Γι’ αυτό και αυτό το ντοκιμαντέρ, το «Ελβίρα ντε Ιδάλγο, αποκαθιστώντας μια ντίβα», θέλει να σώσει το όνομά της από την ανωνυμία και να την ανεβάσει στο επίπεδο που της αντιστοιχεί: στο πάνθεον με τις ντίβες της όπερας.
